You know, I don’t really want to do this anymore. You guys go way too hard. I’ve seen so many of you out drinking and freaking out every night of the festival and I don’t know how you do it. Is it the power of love?
Again, another epic night. Thanks to everyone for their support of the festival and local music. I hope you found a new favorite band, maybe picked up a few records or bought a t-shirt. These last five days have been amazing, thanks to everyone who made it a success.
We’ll be announcing the Victory Square Block Party lineup in the next month, so keep in touch. See you on Labour Day.
Final night, find true love:

Mohawk Lodge @ the Astoria
Last night was epic. Thanks to everyone in Vancouver who came out in droves to the eastside just to check out live local music. You packed three venues with your drunken, beautiful faces and gave those bands some serious love. Thanks to all of the bands that played, you’re the reason half of the city is trekking through the DTES on a damp Friday evening. And thanks to Ian Wyatt for playing ‘Sex Dwarf’, that made my night.
I was able to hop on my bike last night and jump between venues a couple times. I caught all three headliners. With the sun coming out as we speak, I’d recommend passholders trying this out tonight.
There are only a few passes left and they will be on sale at the doors. Six shows left. Here’s what’s up tonight:
SATURDAY, June 7th
HOKO’S
8:20-8:50  Young Lions
9:00-9:30   GR8-2000
9:50-10:20  Piper Davis
10:40-11:10  Onomatapoeia
11:30-12:00  Jesse Taylor
THE ASTORIA
10:20-11:00  Barcelona Chair

12:20-1:00  White Owl
1:20-2:00    Winning
PUB 340
11:20-12:00  Gang Violence
12:20- 1:00   Golden Touch

International Falls have been added to Hoko's on Sunday, June 8th

A Bittersweet Music Waste Miracle Announcement: our favourite Latin post-punks Los Malos have had to back out of the Sunday show at Hoko’s because members Francisco and Manuela are having a baby named Ramona. Music Waste is many things, but we do not advocate playing rock music with a baby coming out of you.

As sad as it is to lose Los Malos to the miracles of childbirth we’ve quickly found a replacement that we are super psyched to have play. Welcome International Falls to Hoko’s on Sunday, June 8th. Fresh from tour and ready to rock Sunday.

Hoko’s - Sunday, June 8th

International Falls 11:20 - 12:00

B Lines at Pub 340 (via bev. davies)
What a night! All 3 shows we’re packed. Hank & Lily got everyone dancing. Greenbelt Collective had a record number of members (15?) making everyone in the crowd grin. And 340 got fucking crazy when a seemingly drunken B-Lines brought the pit. Great shows! Thanks to everyone who came and everyone who played. This festival is a celebration of you guys, so fucking celebrate.
Best/Worst/Best line of the night came from Robert Mearns: “Music Waste is like your baby with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. It may not survive, but at least it went hard while it was alive.”
Tonight is going to be another big one. All shows are $5 and passes are still on sale in stores and at the doors.

Adam's Ultimate Music Waste Guide

Wow, last night at the Cobalt was amazing. People are getting snappy, and there’s a lot of enthusiasm for this years festy. Take for example this guy named Adam. He came up to us with a complete listing of every band playing MW08, and not only that, but he had all the times laid out. How he ever got this information we do not know, but we got him to email it to us. Too bad this version doesn’t have the cute little bunny rabbits he had drawn on it.

Download Adam’s Music Waste Guide (sans Bunnies)

UPDATE: Adam just sent us a new version that includes the bunnies. What a weirdo.

Night one was incredible. A packed room was treated to some aural and visual mindfuckery. Good times were had. Shout outs to Bil and Jeremy for letting Music Waste curate this Fake Jazz.
It’s gonna get sloppy tonight. Shows at Pub 340, Hoko’s, and Radha.

OCTOBERMAN added to Hoko's lineup on Sunday, June 8th.

Hi Everyone,

We regret to inform you that Blackberry Wood and Tyrannahorse will not be able to play Hoko’s on Sunday, June 8th.

However, we are very excited to have White Whale record’s own, OCTOBERMAN, join the bill.

These guys have been working incredibly hard for the last couple years and have been making some serious waves in Canada’s music community. We are elated to have them join the festival. Please check ‘em out here.

And then check ‘em out live with Los Malos, and Philibuster.

Love,

Cameron
